Private John Dunn

The background of this man is not known at present.

John Dunn enlisted or was called-up at Ayr, Scotland, on 25 April 1917, probably in a regiment other than the North Irish Horse. He was described as being 5' 3½"  tall, with a fresh complexion and fair hair. He stated that he was eighteen years old, was born in Glasgow, and worked as an apprentice chemist.

Between 23 June and 2 July 1917 he was posted to the North Irish Horse (regimental number 2528). He trained at the regiment's reserve base at Antrim, but was reported to have deserted on 21 September 1917. Whether he subsequently returned to duty is not known.
